Counselors are great! That profession was placed in our society as a helpful tool for times and seasons they are needed. We just have to remember that God is our ultimate Counselor (Isaiah 9:6). Once we can learn to lean on God completely and step out in faith to trust His word then we will be able to experience the fullness of His faithfulness.
Take this scripture in Psalm 32:8 for instance where it says “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you”. The word “guide” in the Strongs Concordance means to “advise; to consult; to counsel”! The word had many meanings but one of them was presence. So if you re-read it and put synonyms to the words guide and review that small section, it reads “I [God] will counsel you with mine presence”. Hallelujah!
God will instruct us and teach us in the way we should go. If you are confused, call out to God today and ask Him to teach you things you never properly learned or understood. When you feel heavy and burdened by problems around you, read these scriptures and allow God in so He can be that present help you need:
Isaiah 61:3
Matthew 11: 28-30
As you dive deep in your walk with Christ, ask God where in your life He's playing the role of a counselor, and then take some faith steps to ask Him questions that you would normally share with an earthly counselor.
Write down your questions, concerns and answers then watch your beautiful picture of Him unfold.
