A Sinner's Prayer

Lord, the great and awesome God who keeps His covenant of love.

I have sinned and done wrong.

I have been wicked and have rebelled against you,

I have turned away from your commandments and laws.

I have not listened to your servants, the prophets who spoke in your name to our kings, our princes and our ancestors and to all the people of the land.

All of Israel refused to obey and has transgressed against you.

Lord, only you are righteous.

In this day, I am covered in shame.

Lord, my God, even through I have rebelled against you are merciful and forgiving.

I seek your face in this moment and ask that you cleanse me from my sins and shift my focus to pay attention to your truth.

May your name be glorified in all I do.

May the comfort found in my sins disgust my heart and flesh.

May I look to your Word and to you alone.

In Jesus name I pray,
